Tiraz

Refers to an embroidered or tapestry-woven inscription band in Islamic textiles, or fabric with an inscription band added in a technique different from the ground weave. Tiraz garments embroidered in silver or gold were a luxury good in Medieval Europe and are represented in portal sculptures on Chartres Cathedral.
