Pararealgar

Yellow surface coating of friable material that forms on unprotected realgar exposed to light; this light-induced transformation product is found occasionally in paintings in association with the pigment. In the past, pararealgar has been confused with the pigment orpiment to which this sulfide arsenic mineral is closely related.
