Mineral composed of manganese carbonate (MnCO3), appearing transparent to opaque pink to deep red in color; used as an ornamental stone and source for manganese. Found in hydrothermal veins along with other manganese minerals in low temperature ore deposits as in the silver mines of Romania, Germany, and Britain; also found in South and North America.
