Pure metallic element having symbol W and atomic number 74; a heavy white metal with a specific gravity of 19.6 and the highest melting point of any metal. Use also for this metal as processed and formed, usually in combination with other substances, to make various objects and materials, particularly alloy steel and magnets, and in electronic applications.
