Descripción
Use generally for small decorative moldings, usually angular bands or fillets, encircling column shafts; specifically designates the fillets around the bottom of the echinus of a Doric capital. For the grooves encircling the bottom of a Doric capital and masking the joint between capital and shaft, use "hypotrachelia." For molded bands around Gothic column shafts, often masking the joint between two sections of shaft, prefer "shaft rings."
