Descripción

Japanese hourglass drums having two heads of hide stretched over iron rings that project well beyond the body, laced to each other across the body with ropes. Players hold them by the ropes, relaxing and tightening their grip to alter the tension and thus adjust the pitch of the heads during play. Often used during performaces of Noh drama.
