Refers to the period and styles associated with the Early Bronze Age Chinese culture dating from the first half of the 2nd millennium BCE, named after the village of Erlitou which is situated in what is now Henan Province, near the modern city of Luoyang. The major art produced during this period consists of bronze and jade ritual vessels, small plaques inlaid with pieces of turquoise, and a few tools and weapons.
