Descripción

Refers to a Greek pottery style that developed around 560 BCE and is named after a site on the island of Rhodes. The most common shape is a squat amphora, and the painting is characterized by dark-on-light designs that generally comprise a single human or animal figure in an empty field or closely spaced bands of ornament, including crescents and lotus flowers. In some classification schemes, it is a variation of middle or late Wild Goat Style.
