Descripción

Refers to the process by which an open fire or a special firing pit is used to prepare, cure, or transform clay or another material by means of heat. It is characterized by the free circulation of oxygen, which results in the oxidation of iron and other components in the material, and a relatively low firing temperature. It differs from firing in a kiln, where the structure of the kiln allows a higher firing temperature to be achieved and the space may be sealed from oxygen.
