Descripción
Broad term referring to several groups of Eukaryotes including around 500 species of primitive organisms that are biological and taxonomic enigmas because they are neither typical fungi nor typical protozoa. During one of their growth stages, they are protozoa-like because they lack cell walls, have amoeboid movement, and ingest particulate nutrients; during another stage they form fruiting bodies and sporangia, which bear walled spores like typical fungi.
