Tombstones (document genres)

Standardized displays of information about an art object or other cultural material that include specific data elements that uniquely identify and describe the object, often the name of creator, title, date of creation, materials, dimensions, location and unique identifying number (such as an accession number), and copyright and credit line. Tombstones are used in wall labels, captions under illustrations in publications, etc.
