Descripción

Family containing four living species in four genera, characterized by long forelegs, a powerful neck and shoulders, a bear-like gait due tofront legs being longer than their back legs, intelligence, excellent sight, hearing, and smell, powerful carnassial teeth adapted for cutting flesh, and premolars for crushing bone. They originated 26 million years ago from arboreal ancestors in the cat group.
